2025 Hickory Stick Invitational
This year marks an exciting new chapter for the Hickory Stick Invitational. As we prepare for another fantastic year, we’d like to begin by introducing ourselves as the new leaders who will be carrying the torch forward. We are Jon Bowerman and Chris Tillotson, and together we bring a shared enthusiasm and fresh vision that will no doubt honor the traditions of the outing while continuing to elevate its impact.
Additionally, we express our gratitude to two remarkable individuals: Marty Gillespie and Chuck Plein. For the past 27 years, Marty and Chuck have not only co-founded the Hickory Stick Invitational but have also dedicated themselves to its growth and success. Through their leadership, the outing has made a significant impact in support of the Evans Scholars Foundation — and for that, we thank them wholeheartedly!
In the spirit of growth and renewal, we are excited to announce a new venue for this year’s event: Red Run Golf Club in Royal Oak, Michigan. Red Run has sent numerous caddies to college through the Evans Scholars Foundation, and we believe it is the perfect setting for the Hickory Stick Invitational in 2025.
We look forward to seeing many familiar faces and welcoming new ones as we continue the mission that Marty and Chuck began – making a difference, one swing at a time.
What is the Hickory?
This is not your typical golf outing. The tournament features players dressed in Plus Fours (Knickers) and tams using actual pre 1930 Hickory Sticks. The day brings one an experience to enjoy the game of golf as it was originally played. We are led onto the course by a bagpiper to celebrate “The Game” that exemplifies tradition, integrity, competition and companionship. All Can Play - Hickory Stick Sets Provided!
